Pre-Conference Workshop

Investigations, Causes, and Lessons Learned

What are structural failures, their types, origins, causes, consequences; the engineering response starting with the first steps after a failure, followed by the investigation process and rendering of reports. Case studies of the investigation of structural failures during construction and in-service, their causes, lessons learned, and how to apply the lessons to reduce failures in the future; understanding and meeting the “standard of care” and “duty to perform”; recognizing opportunities for catching mistakes; affecting changes in codes and practices. A brief overview of the frequency, types and causes of structural failures and their mitigation in developing countries.

Registrants will receive a full refund less a $100 administrative fee until August 1st, 2019. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to Venue West no later than August 1st, 2019 by email to 

Registrants wishing to cancel after August 1, 2019 will not be eligible for any refund. Substitutions from the same organization are permitted and must be submitted in writing to the same e-mail by August 1, 2019.
